I got this recipe from my grandmother, who lived her entire life in Pennsylvania Dutch country. These are the real deal. The original (stained and worn) recipe card suggests you serve these "hot with syrup and sausages" -- what a fabulous idea!!

Funnel Cakes

2 beaten eggs
1 ½ C milk
1 C sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 C cooking oil

Combine eggs and milk. Sift dry ingredients and add to egg mixture. Beat smooth with mixer. In 8 inch skillet add oil and heat to 360°. Pour ½ C mixture into funnel (hold bottom until ready). Release batter into oil in squiggly patterns. Fry until golden (3 minutes), turn carefully with tongs and wide spatula, cook 1 minute more. Drain on paper towel. Sprinkle with 10X sugar.
