Another recipe from Cook Your Meals the Lazy Way. Again, this is not gourmet cooking, but this is a versatile and easy way to combine the same old ingredients. The kids like this too, which is a major plus in my book.

Hamburger Stroganoff

1 pound lean hamburger
1 onion
1 clove garlic (or a heavy sprinkling of garlic powder)
1 T tomato paste (in a pinch, I've subbed ketchup)
1 T flour
¾ C water
1 beef stock cube (chicken works, too)
salt and pepper
½ C sour cream

In a large skillet, sauté the hamburger over medium heat. While the meat is cooking, slice the onion and mince the garlic. Add them to the skillet and cook until the onions have softened and are lightly browned.

Blend the tomato paste into the meat and sprinkle the flour over all. Stir to combine, then slowly blend in the water. Add the stock cube and bring the mixture to a boil, breaking up the stock cube, which will melt as the water heats.

Cook 3 to 4 minutes, then taste and season with salt and pepper. Blend in the sour cream and heat through. Serve over egg noodles or toast points.
